Mark McRae has retired. Officially he retired this summer, but Municipal Council recognized him with a gift and a Wawa Goose print at Tuesday night’s Council Meeting.

Mayor Rody spoke, “We certainly appreciated your service throughout the years. I personally had, as many of you in our Municipality have had occasion to have issues with water, sewer, and it was great to have someone show up and take care of it. Not only did he do the job, each and every day well; he took care of people in our community. Here, some of the seniors, our residents that had issues, mobility issues, and couldn’t get around; and if he knew that might be a problem; Mark would go around and talk to a relative, friend, neighbour and make sure that no one was without water/sewer. He made sure that they were ok. I think that is a special gift, a part of his character, it is who Mark is. To help out his fellow citizens in this town. He grew up in this town, I think he loves this town. He is retired now, but I don’t know if he is a better golfer now… He will be by next summer.”

He continued, “Mark, we thank you for all those years, for your service, for your frankness. Mark over the years, never let a white hat get in between him and a comment if he thought something needed to be done. I think by the time everybody had their say, they were all better off, and the job got done. We want to thank you for all those years.”

Mayor Rody then presented Mark with two gifts, one of which was a Wawa Goose Print, to the applause of the room.
