Death in Spanish Now Classified as Homicide

On July 4, 2017, shortly after 12:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from East Algoma Detachment, as well as the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP East Algoma Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) responded to an unresponsive male located outside a residence in the Town of Spanish.

 

On July 6, 2017, a post mortem examination was conducted at the Office of the Chief Coroner-Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) Northeastern Regional Forensic Pathology Unit in Sudbury. As a result, investigators have classified the death of George CHAPMAN, 68 years of age, from Spanish, Ontario, as a homicide. The OPP East Algoma Crime Unit is continuing their investigation under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski.
