On May 3rd, 2017 officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will partner with law enforcement and other associated agencies to resume the search and recovery efforts in regards to missing person John Szczepanik.
John Szczepanik, age 45, was last seen in the evening hours of March 5th, 2017 riding his snow machine on the ice near open water by Pine Shores Drive.

- The Marine Security Enforcement Team (MSET – RCMP / Canadian Coast Guard):
- The Ontario Provincial Police Marine Unit,
- The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit,
- RCMP Sault Detachment,
- Michigan State Police Underwater Recovery Unit,
- US Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie,
- US Coast Guard Vessel Safety Service; and,
- The Sault Search and Rescue
will be working in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service starting on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at 09:00 a.m. near Point Louise Drive where search personnel will be continuing the marine search.
