A writ was issued today under Section 9.1 of the Election Act for a by-election in the electoral district of Sault Ste. Marie. The byelection will fill a vacancy created in the provincial parliament.
Under the Election Act, elections must be called on a Wednesday and held the fifth Thursday after the date of the issue of the writ. Voting day will be June 1, 2017.
Editor’s Note: This will fill the vacancy left by David Orazietti announcement that he was leaving politics after 13 years as Sault Ste. Marie’s member of provincial parliament last December.
