The search for a missing snowmobiler that began Sunday night continues.
The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Rescue Unit has been on scene since yesterday and are being assisted by members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Emergency Services Unit as well as Marine Support by Sault Fire Services.
The search is concentrated on the waterway earlier identified just east of Point Aux Pins Drive on the St. Mary’s River.
Efforts on scene are challenging due to deteriorating ice conditions caused by wind and temperature changes.
We ask that the public use extreme caution around lakes, rivers, streams, and areas that may have water flowing below as temperature fluctuations and snow melt in our area are influencing ice integrity.
Further updates will be issued as they become available
