FENLON, James Patrick ‘Jim’

June 20, 1938 – January 9, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim, peacefully in his sleep on January 9th, 2017 at the age of 78.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Gina and his daughter, Pattie; his brother Jack (Margaret); nephews Steve (Ann Marie), Michael (Sharon), nieces: Mardy, Kerry (Jeff), Krista, Ann, Susan (Lewis), Shelly (Craig) and many grandnieces and grandnephews; as well as many dear friends. He goes to join his brother Ted, and parents Gertrude and Michael, and granddaughter Hope.

Jim was born and raised at Superior View Lodge with his brothers Ted and Jack. This is where the name Fenlon’s Lagoon came from; boats from the lodge were anchored there in safety from Lake Superior.

Jim was a true Northerner, and his life reflected that love of the land by becoming a ‘Jim of all trades’. He and his family owned and operated a number of gas stations, hotels and outfitter camps. Long-time residents of Wawa will remember them at the Agawa Gas Station, Redwood Motel, Camp Esanagi, and the ‘On the Bun’ Chip-stand beside Young’s General store. Jim was also an avid bush pilot, flying his Piper Super Cub summer and winter. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. In the spring, family and friends will come together to celebrate Jim’s Life.
