Wawa Sno-Riders End Successful Season…

Published on: Mar 30, 2005

Early this morning, President, Mike Abbot sent the e-mail that was inevitable given the recent warm weather. “The trails in the Wawa area are now CLOSED. The warm weather coupled with the rain we received over night have created unsafe water crossings. Although some sections of trail are still reasonably good it is impossible for us to monitor where the problems are occurring.” He went on to comment about the season, “Despite several mechanical problems with aging grooming equipment, it’s been a good season,” said a tired but proud President, Mike Abbott.

Abbott, and members of the Board of Directors and community volunteers have contributed over 4,000 volunteer hours this past year. The three groomers totaled 1,310 hours which is down from last year due to new efficiencies introduced by Abbott last fall.  The groomers and the packing equipment will receive scheduled maintenance and repairs over the next couple of weeks, and be ready for next winter.
