Thank you Fay, for taking the time to stop at the Wawa Public Library and share your experiences with us! It was a very informative session and our discussion about Alzheimer, Dementia and other brain injuries was interesting and eye-opening. Thank you also to these wonderful people for joining us! Fay’s book “Dementia Widow” is available for checkout as are the Wawa Public Library’s Memory Boxes for Alzheimer and Dementia. Come in and ask us about the Memory Boxes. This project was funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
September 25th (9/25) was Dolly Parton Day and Wawa’s Imagination Library Day! Thank you, Heather, for putting your “Dolly” on today and sharing with us. Registration forms for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library can be filled out at the Wawa Public Library! This amazing program is coordinated by Cathy Cannon and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wawa and provides free monthly books for children 0-5 years old. What a way to start building a library for your child and instilling the love of reading right from the start!

Firewolf is back to begin our celebration of First Nations Public Library Week with a painting session on October 3rd beginning at 11:30am! Her teachings and stories about natural medicines, the Creator and Mother Earth and drumming are very inspiring, and her painting tutorials are amazing! We ask you please register as we have limited seating! If you register and cannot come, please let us know as soon as possible. Following the afternoon painting with Firewolf, we are so pleased to have the Eagle Medicine Singers perform at the library! This is a three-generation trio who are simply amazing! Please join us at approximately 1:30 to hear the amazing singing and drumming of the Eagle Medicine Singers! Everyone is welcome!

After School Programs
The Wawa Public Library’s After School Programs will begin on Tuesday, September 29, 2026!
Join Madison as we kick off a fun new After School Program! There will be stories, crafts, clay, games and a whole lot of fun. Join Madison Tuesday- Friday for a variety of Club activities. Pamphlets for October – December are ready for pick up and can be downloaded from the Website shortly. If your child is new to the program, parents or caregivers will need to fill out a registration form. If your child is a returning participant of the After School Programs, we ask that you review their form and make any necessary changes. We look forward to a busy school year and hope to see new as well as returning members of the Wawa Public Library’s After School Programs!
Tuesdays
Another new season of Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop games begin in October! Eric is your Dungeon Master and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and game play with newcomers as well as seasoned players! This program is open to ages 13+ and takes place at the Wawa Public Library every Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Wednesdays
Tot Time Wednesdays is at 10 a.m. Please note that we are closed Wednesday, September 30th for Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Fingerweaving with Carolle is on Wednesdays beginning at 1 p.m.
Senior’s Corner: Any seniors interested in joining our Knitting Connections please drop by the library for more information. The Senior Knitting Group are currently knitting/crocheting chemo hats for all ages, knockers for women who have had breast cancer and lap blankets.

If you are a senior who is unable to get out, the library offers a Senior’s Shut-in Program. We will deliver library materials to patrons living in the Wawa area. For more information, please telephone the library at 705-856-2244 ext. 290 or 291!
We have a large selection of large print books and audio books for seniors and anyone else with sight issues.
The library has a puzzle mat! If you are interested in popping in and working on a puzzle, we can set you up! Puzzles are also available for all patrons to check out!
If you are just looking for a safe, inviting place to go for a social activity, the library is the place to go. We have very comfortable seating available in a lovely, active environment.today!

We have two computers available for use and two workspaces if a patron would like to bring in their own laptop or tablet. Free WIFI is available.If you do not have a library card, there is a fee of $1.00/half hour for the use of a computer. We sanitize each work space after use.

The Wawa Public Library welcomes the donation of gently used DVDs and books.What we don’t catalogue we put in our book sales.Thank you in advance for supporting the library!
Remember – library membership is FREE to residents of the Municipality of Wawa and contracting communities. All you need to provide is proof of residency. That would include any document or piece of identification that states both your name and street address. Membership forms can be found on our website at wawa.olsn.ca or come in and sign up at the Wawa Public Library. All are welcome!
Our drop box is in place for all returns. Please do not deposit batteries or ink cartridges in the drop box as they may damage our books.
LIBRARY HOURS – Saturday, Sunday & Monday-closed.The library is open Tuesday-Thursday from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, Friday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
