Three Arrested in Wawa Following Theft at Sault Business

On September 19, 2026, officers with the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three individuals on Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charges.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a theft from a business in the 200 block of Queen Street East. An investigation revealed two suspects had stolen merchandise from the business earlier that day.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., officers with the OPP located the two suspects, along with a third person, in Wawa, Ontario. Upon searching the third individual, officers located the stolen merchandise. All three people were arrested.

74-year-old Radu Anghel of Oakville, Ontario — who was also wanted on warrants from four other police services — is charged with:

• Theft Over $5,000

40-year-old Robert Lukacs of Pickering, Ontario — who was also wanted on warrants from one other police service — is charged with:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

34-year-old Vasile Rostas of Pickering, Ontario — who was also wanted on warrants from four other police services — is charged with:

• Theft Over $5,000

All three accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on December 14, 2026.
