We are so very thankful for the support from local businesses and individuals that ensured such a successful library program! We are very thankful for the partnerships we have developed over the years and are very grateful for that continued support and wonderful relationship we have with our community members!
Thank you to all the children who attend our programs as well as the daycare providers who allow us to bring fun stories to them and who also participate in the in-library programming. It is so fun to see the young children growing up and getting to know the “library ladies”! We hope you all enjoyed the Summer Programs and hope you continue to attend the After School Programs!
The winners are:
Heather and Jack were the winners of the Summer Reading BINGO Challenge and each received a fun, book-filled prize package! Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to our winners!
The Big Winner of the Read It to Win It Kids Reading Challenge was Calum! Calum won a $100.00 gift card! Because so much reading was done by all the participants, the kids filled up the BIG jar and we had to start a second container! An extra container means a bonus prize! The Bonus Prize winner was Lachlan who won a $25.00 gift card! Thank you to all the participants and congratulations to our winners!
Any child who participated in our reading clubs had their name entered into a draw for a tablet or a leap pad depending on the age group! This included the daycare story times and the Story & Craft Club at the library! Our goal was to keep the children reading and participating in story times all summer long! There was an amazing number of entries for each draw and we thank everyone who participated!
There is one tablet and one leap pad for children participating in the French Story Time and one tablet and one leap pad for children participating in the English Story Time!
The winners of the tablets were Nathan and Jeremy! They were both very excited to receive their prize!
The Winners of the Leap Pads were Nora and Lily! They were so happy to receive their special prizes! Congratulations to all!

Join us at the Wawa Public Library, as we welcome author Fay Martin as she discusses her book “Dementia Widow” and her experiences of being a caregiver to her husband who suffered from dementia! This author talk will take place at the Wawa Public Library on September 22nd beginning at 1pm!
Our Memory Boxes for dementia and Alzheimer are ready for check out! Come in and ask us about the Memory Boxes!
NEW BOOKS this week are “A Dark Path” by Linda Castillo, “January and July” by Jeff Abbott, and “This Changes Everything” by Lisa Scottoline. Also, new on our shelf is “The Silver Princess” newly published by Wawa’s very own Kiara Kiddle! Congratulations Kiara! We are very proud of you!

Join Madison as we kick off a fun new After School Program on Tuesday, September 29th! (QR Code for wawa.olsn.ca) There will be stories, crafts, clay, games and a whole lot of fun. Join Madison Tuesday- Friday for a variety of Club activities. Pamphlets for September – December are ready for pick up and can be downloaded from the Website shortly.
- If your child is new to the program, parents or caregivers will need to fill out a registration form.
- If you are a returning participant of the After School Programs, we ask that you review your child’s form and make any necessary changes.

SATURDAY MAHJONG WITH DAVE!! The next dates for Saturday Mahjong with Dave are coming up! New players are welcome! Come in and check it out!! A great way to meet new people and learn a new game.
SENIOR’S CORNER: Any seniors interested in joining our Knitting Connections please drop by the library for more information. The Senior Knitting Group have begun to knit/crochet chemo hats for all ages, knockers for women who have had breast cancer and lap blankets. All supplies are provided by the library! All we need are the talented senior knitters of Wawa and area to join us on Thursday afternoons from 1-3pm!
If you are a senior who is unable to get out, the library offers a Senior’s Shut-in Program. We will deliver library materials to patrons living in the Wawa area. For more information, please call the library at 705-856-2244 ext. 290 or 291!
We have a large selection of large print books and audio books for seniors and anyone else with sight issues.
The library has a puzzle mat! If you are interested in popping in and working on a puzzle, we can set you up! Puzzles are also available for all patrons to check out!
If you are just looking for a safe, warm place to go for a social activity, the library is the place to go. We have very comfortable seating available in a lovely, active environment.

We have a great selection of books, magazines, DVD’s, Blu-rays, Audiobooks, French books, and more available for checkout.The newer magazines are one-week lending and the older ones are three weeks lending.And don’t forget our awesome Children’s collection and our growing Graphic Novel collection.
For the visually impaired, we have a Daisy Reader available for check out as well as books and magazines available on discs and a great selection of Audio Books and PLAYAWAYS.

We have two computers available for use and two workspaces if a patron would like to bring in their own laptop or tablet. Free WIFI is available.If you do not have a library card, there is a fee of $1.00/half hour for the use of a computer. We sanitize each work space after use.

The Wawa Public Library welcomes the donation of gently used DVDs and books.What we don’t catalogue we put in our book sales.Thank you in advance for supporting the library!
Remember – library membership is FREE to residents of the Municipality of Wawa and contracting communities. All you need to provide is proof of residency. That would include any document or piece of identification that states both your name and street address. Membership forms can be found on our website at wawa.olsn.ca or come in and sign up at the Wawa Public Library. All are welcome!
Our drop box is in place for all returns. Please do not deposit batteries or ink cartridges in the drop box as they may damage our books.
LIBRARY HOURS – Saturday, Sunday & Monday-closed.The library is open Tuesday-Thursday from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, Friday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
