East Algoma OPP – Individual Charged with failing to comply

An individual was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a court-ordered condition at a Blind River motel.

On Friday, August 14, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Algoma Paramedic Services responded to a report of an intoxicated person at a motel on Martin Street in the Town of Blind River.

Due to the person’s level of intoxication, they were transported to the local hospital for medical assessment.

While officers were dealing with the initial incident and making their way to the complainant’s room, they observed an individual sleeping at a picnic table at the motel. While speaking with the individual, officers learned that they were subject to a court-ordered condition to abstain from consuming alcohol. The individual was subsequently arrested, transported to Blind River detachment and lodged until sober.

Lowell LINEKAR, 41 years old, from Blind River was charged with:

· Failure to comply with undertaking

· Being intoxicated in public place

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 1, 2026.
