It is with great sadness that we announce Joan’s death on Friday, March 30, 2001 following a four year courageous battle with cancer. Her quiet dignity and strength will be an inspiration for those left behind. Cherishing memories of her will be her beloved husband and partner Jack Aitkenhead, son Corky Aitkenhead and Sally Jones (Calgary), daughters Judy Scott and companion Mario Roy (Sault Ste. Marie) and Joanne Poitras and husband Guillaume (Oshawa). Devoted grandmother of four grandsons Toby Jackson and Tyler Lucas Scott and Christopher Wilson and Dufferin Alexander Poitras. Loving mother-in-law of the late Clifton Scott.

Daughter of the late Allan Isaacson and Ester Nelson. Daughter-in-law of the late Andrew and Irene Aitkenhead. Proud sister of Robert Isaacson (Kathy). Dear sister-in-law of the late Norman Aitkenhead (Marge), Marge Fiebelkorn (Bill), Ronald Aitkenhead (Iris), the late Garry Aitkenhead, Kenny Aitkenhead, Beverly Schindel (Edwin), Gordon Aitkenhead (Debbie), Patricia Thorsteinson (Douglas) and Gerald Aitkenhead. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Joan will be sadly missed by her special lifetime friend, Audrey Dereski.
Fends may call at the Gilmartin Funeral Home, 140 Churchill Ave. Wawa. from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday evening. A funeral service will be held at the First United Church on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kathryn Knox McLellan officiating.
Spring interment Woodland Cemetery.
For those who wish in lieu of flowers donations to the Lady Dunn General Hospital Cancer Room or the Michipicoten Fire Dept would be appreciated by the family.
