Northeast Forest Fire Region Update:

  • There are 34 active wildland fires in the Northwest Region. Of those fires, 1 is not under control, 1 is being held, 1 is under control and 31 fires are being observed.The wildland fire hazard is mainly moderate to high across the Northwest Region, with a band of low hazard spanning across the majority of the Red Lake sector and into western Sioux Lookout. A few scattered pockets of extreme hazard values are being observed at the north end of the Thunder Bay sector, and around Webequie First Nation.

  • Don’t forget that Algoma Power has scheduled an electrical service interruption for all customers (McKinley Ave between Mackey Street and Algoma Street) today between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00 pm.  Alternate date is Wednesday, August 28, 2024. This interruption is required for a line upgrade.
