SE OPP Wawa Investigate Fatality – Bicyclist struck by Motor Vehicle

On July 28, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m., members from the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), together with Algoma Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a serious collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle. The collision took place at the intersection of Main St. and Broadway Ave. in the town of Wawa.

 

At this time, it is known that the bicyclist has died. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

 

Currently, Highway 101 east bound from the corner of Main St. and Broadway Ave. in Wawa is closed for a distance of one block. Detours are available.

 

The investigation continues with the assistance of an OPP Traffic Reconstructionist and Technical Traffic Collision Investigator.
