On February 1, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed search warrants at a shop on Kilborn Way in Elliot Lake.
After investigation, police obtained numerous Warrants to Search the buildings and vehicles at that location. As a result of the warrants being executed, over $2800 in cash, numerous parts from a stolen Off-Road Vehicle, stolen tools and power equipment from a previous break and enter, ammunition or various calibers, 30 fish fillets in brine, almost 3000 suspected Methamphetamine tablets, approximately 50 suspected Oxycodone tablets, digital scales, and an All-Terrain Vehicle was seized. The estimated street value of the drugs is over $15,000.
The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), East Algoma Crime Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), and uniform members were involved with the investigation.
Tim MORAN, 40 years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada (Six Counts), contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (Other than Heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
- Fail to Comply with Release Order (Two Counts) – Other Than to Attend Court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on February 2, 2022.
