The Algoma Family Services Foundation is excited to announce the return of the 5th Annual Community Strong Race Weekend, taking place June 20-21, 2026, bringing together runners, walkers, families, volunteers, and supporters from across Algoma and beyond in support of local children’s mental health services.
As the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, Community Strong Race Weekend has grown into a signature community event, attracting more than 500 participants from across Algoma, throughout Ontario, and internationally. Every dollar raised stays local, helping ensure children, youth, and families in our community can access the mental health supports they need.
“This event is about more than crossing a finish line,” said Jessica Lopatka, AFS Foundation Coordinator. “It’s about building a stronger community together and investing in the wellbeing of local children and youth. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped Community Strong Race Weekend grow over the past five years into the amazing event it is today.”

Whether you choose to walk, run, dance, skip, or simply enjoy the colourful atmosphere, the Colour Run is all about fun, community, and participation.
With vibrant colour stations, music, and an energetic atmosphere, the Colour Run offers a unique opportunity for families, friends, coworkers, and community groups to come together while supporting a meaningful cause.
Volunteers Needed
The success of Community Strong Race Weekend depends on the support of dedicated volunteers. Organizers are currently recruiting volunteers to assist with race-day operations, course marshaling, water stations, setup, cleanup, and more.
Community members interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up through www.saultstrong.ca and be part of one of Algoma’s most inspiring community events.
Looking Ahead
As Community Strong Race Weekend celebrates its fifth anniversary, organizers remain focused on growing the event in the years ahead, attracting more participants, welcoming visitors to the region, and raising even more funds for local children’s mental health programs.
Every registration, donation, sponsorship, and volunteer contribution helps strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of children and families throughout our community.
