An exciting business experience awaits youth between the ages of 9 and 13. They will participate in a 5-day summer camp unlike any other in our region. Wawa Youth Enterprise Camp, brought to you by Head Start in Business and sponsored by Regional CFDCs, FedNor, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and other corporate sponsors, is a one-of-a-kind business day camp, where all participants will embark on a journey into the world of enterprise. The camp also includes great summer activities such as swimming, exciting outings, recreational games, and much more.
Young Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to make new friends, create their own businesses and may even make a profit that is theirs to keep. Camp participants will be under the supervision of the local Head Start in Business coordinator and experienced camp staff.
By the end of the week, campers will recognize various qualities, characteristics and attitudes within themselves that can be related to entrepreneurship. Campers will also learn how to be team players, creative thinkers, better their organizational skills and goal setting skills all aimed at self-discovery. “My favourite part was making the product because we got to work together as a team,” said a camp participant from last year’s Youth Enterprise Camp. “Seeing the kids start from scratch and slowly transform themselves into entrepreneurs in just a few short days was incredible,” said a camp counsellor.
Wawa Youth Enterprise Camp will run from August 15 to August 19th at Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre. Campers are scheduled to run their own “Business for a Day” on August 19th at Winnie-the Pooh days in White River and extend an open invitation to the community to come and support them.
Register soon as space is limited.
