Purvītis, Mintaunts – ‘Minto’

Mintaunts ‘Minto’ died at the General Hospital on Friday, June 27th, 2008 after suffering a stroke Sunday night. Survived by his older brother, “Duke” Purvitis. Minto was a well-known artist, known for his “Minto” wildlife prints done in ink points and meticulous portraits done in coloured pencils. He was born in Latvia (November 26th, 1941), lived in Kaslo, B.C., and Sault Ste. Marie.

In respecting Minto’s wishes there will be no funeral service.

Editor’s Note: Minto was well known in Wawa, having painted several murals at the Wawa Motor Inn, Big Bird Inn (moonlight winter cabin, Embassy Restaurant).
