Nipigon OPP – Investigation continues into fatal Collision

Members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a single vehicle fatal collision.

On Monday, October 19, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., OPP officers along with emergency medical services responded to reports of a collision of a pick-up truck on Highway 17 near Mountain Bay Road.

One individual, a 55-year-old male from Caledon was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another individual was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A section of Highway 17 between Nipigon and Schreiber was closed for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team conducted their investigation.
