Winter weather travel advisory (Geraldton – Manitouwadge – Hornepayne)

5:06 AM EST Saturday 05 February 2022
Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Geraldton – Longlac – Caramat
  • Manitouwadge – Hornepayne

Winter weather travel advisory in effect beginning this afternoon.

Hazards:
Snow, heavy at times. Peak snowfall rates of 1 to 2 cm per hour are possible which can reduce visibilities.
Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected.
Slippery road conditions.

When:
This afternoon through Sunday morning.

Discussion:
Snow is expected to taper from west to east early Sunday morning. This snowfall is due to a low pressure system, an Alberta Clipper, that is expected to track east across Lake Superior tonight through Sunday.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
