They were transported by ambulance to hospital in Elliot Lake and were later airlifted to a hospital in Sudbury by Ornge air ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, the 66-year-old driver of the pickup truck, from Blind River, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Careless driving causing bodily harm<\/li>\n<li>Left turn-fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision<\/li>\n<li>Turn-not in safety<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice (Provincial Offence Court) in Blind River on September 15, 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, August 9, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 108 in the Township of the North Shore.
