{"id":85720,"date":"2026-08-08T09:07:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T13:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=85720"},"modified":"2026-08-08T09:10:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T13:10:03","slug":"east-algoma-opp-cmv-driver-charged-with-six-hta-offences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/08\/east-algoma-opp-cmv-driver-charged-with-six-hta-offences\/","title":{"rendered":"East Algoma OPP &#8211; CMV Driver charged with Six HTA Offences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"timestamp\"><b>Aug 8, 2026 at 09:07<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>Commercial motor vehicle driver charged with six Highway Traffic Act offences.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a member of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit was travelling eastbound on Highway 17 in the Iron Bridge area when they observed a commercial motor vehicle in front of them being operated in an unsafe manner.<\/p>\n<p>The officer observed the tractor-trailer braking abruptly, following a vehicle too closely, and forcing the vehicle off the roadway.<\/p>\n<p>The officer initiated a traffic stop at the west end of Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the 26-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Careless driving<\/li>\n<li>Follow too closely<\/li>\n<li>Drive left of centre &#8211; on a curve<\/li>\n<li>Drive left of centre &#8211; approaching crest of grade<\/li>\n<li>Speeding<\/li>\n<li>Possess more than one licence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Provincial Offences in Blind River on September 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>All motorists, including commercial vehicle operators, have a responsibility to share the road safely. Unsafe driving behaviours put all road users at risk.
