{"id":85542,"date":"2026-08-03T08:11:34","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T12:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=85542"},"modified":"2026-08-03T08:16:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T12:16:22","slug":"nipissing-opp-investigation-continues-into-fatal-collision-between-pickup-and-mobility-scooter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/03\/nipissing-opp-investigation-continues-into-fatal-collision-between-pickup-and-mobility-scooter\/","title":{"rendered":"Nipissing OPP &#8211; Investigation continues into Fatal Collision between Pickup and Mobility Scooter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving a pickup truck and a mobility scooter in West Nipissing.<\/p>\n<p>On August 1, 2026, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Nipissing West OPP, West Nipissing Fire and Emergency Service, and District of Nipissing Paramedic Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Highway 17 near Landfill Road in West Nipissing.<\/p>\n<p>The operator of the mobility scooter, a 73-year-old resident of Sturgeon Falls, was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was not injured.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP&#8217;s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team assisted with the investigation. Highway 17 was closed for approximately five hours while investigators examined the scene and has since reopened.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact the Nipissing West OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
