One individual was arrested for assault. During a search incident to arrest, officers located suspected controlled substances.<\/p>\n<p>A search warrant was subsequently executed on the hotel room involved in the incident. As a result of the search, officers seized three illegal handguns and ammunition, Canadian currency, a vacuum sealer, digital scales, and quantities of suspected controlled substances.<\/p>\n<p>The seized substances are believed to include approximately 1.2 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 450 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 100 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a quantity of suspected hydromorphone. The estimated street value of the suspected drugs is approximately $142,000.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, a 32\u2011year\u2011old individual from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Breach of firearms regulation &#8211; store firearm or restricted weapon<\/li>\n<li>Unauthorized possession of a firearm<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm<\/li>\n<li>Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order &#8211; 12 counts<\/li>\n<li>Possession of counterfeit money<\/li>\n<li>Assault<\/li>\n<li>Assault &#8211; spousal<\/li>\n<li>Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle<\/li>\n<li>Resist peace officer<\/li>\n<li>Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking &#8211; cocaine<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking &#8211; fentanyl<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking &#8211; methamphetamine<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking &#8211; hydromorphone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A second individual, aged 21, from the Sault Ste. Marie area has been charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unauthorized possession of a firearm<\/li>\n<li>Breach of firearms regulation &#8211; store firearm or restricted weapon<\/li>\n<li>Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition<\/li>\n<li>Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (two counts)<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking &#8211; cocaine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both accused were held for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste.
