Marie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Nov 19, 2017 @ 21:37<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div><div class=\"divider\"><\/div>\n<p>Bringing a close to six days of elite competition at the Essar Centre, Team Mouat (Edinburgh, Scotland) and Team Jones (Winnipeg) have claimed victory at the <strong><em>Boost National<\/em><\/strong> in Sault Ste. Marie.<\/p>\n<p>In men\u2019s competition, Team Mouat captured its first career Grand Slam title following a 9-4 victory over first-time Grand Slam finalists Team Kim (Uiseong, South Korea). With the win, Team Mouat takes home $30,000 of the $125,000 men\u2019s purse and qualifies for the <em>Humpty\u2019s Champions Cup<\/em>, the final Grand Slam event of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited,\u201d said 23-year-old skip Bruce Mouat, who becomes the youngest men\u2019s skip to capture a Grand Slam title. \u201cIt\u2019s so tough, it\u2019s unbelievable really just the competition we\u2019ve had. We\u2019ve played so well and hopefully, it\u2019s a sign of things to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In women\u2019s action, Team Jones claimed its ninth career Grand Slam title after edging out Team Scheidegger (Lethbridge, AB) 8-7 in Sunday\u2019s final. Along with its second consecutive Grand Slam title, Team Jones collects $30,000 of the $125,000 women\u2019s purse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels amazing, it\u2019s always so hard to win a Slam,\u201d said skip Jennifer Jones. \u201cIt feels great. We\u2019ve been working hard and making some big shots when we have to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2017-18 <em>Pinty\u2019s Grand Slam of Curling<\/em> season resumes in the New Year with the <em>Meridian Canadian Open<\/em>, beginning Tuesday, January 16 at the Encana Recreation Centre in Camrose, AB.
