{"id":78298,"date":"2025-11-14T06:14:24","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=78298"},"modified":"2025-11-14T06:14:24","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:14:24","slug":"glover-ford-seizing-control-of-exhibition-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/14\/glover-ford-seizing-control-of-exhibition-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Glover: Ford seizing control of Exhibition Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A provision buried in the Ford government&#8217;s Fall Economic Statement (Bill 68) allows the government to seize the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) <a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/353019c4e982ae7eb8ea53150\/files\/f2f0b0c2-b556-a88f-a38f-fba19300d545\/PIN_21383_0039_12Nov2025.pdf\">lands<\/a> owned by the City of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an unconscionable land grab,\u201d said Ontario NDP MPP Chris Glover (Spadina\u2014Fort York). \u201cEspecially on the heels of an Auditor General report that found the Ford government was not fair, transparent, or accountable in its Ontario Place redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExhibition Place has been managed by the City of Toronto. It organizes events including the CNE, the Royal Winter Fair and TFC games that draw millions of visitors each year. Everywhere Ford has gone with his real estate deals, he has left a trail of destruction and wasted taxpayer dollars.
