Her ticket was the lucky one drawn for <b>$2,632,450<\/b>\u00a0in the Thunder Bay 50\/50 October draw \u2014 the third-largest grand prize ever awarded.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The news felt especially close to home when Glenn Craig, CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, learned who the October winner was. Glenn and Sharon share a community connection through Fort William Rotary, a reminder of just how close-knit Thunder Bay truly is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m always excited to make these winning calls,\u201d said Craig. \u201cBut today was extra special \u2014 this was someone I know, a fellow Rotarian, and it felt incredible to be able to deliver the life-changing news to her.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">When Glenn made the call, Sharon answered as she would any other, completely unaware that her life was about to change. After a bit of small talk, she realized what time it was and everything started to make sense. She said, \u201cIt\u2019s Friday at 11:00,\u201d and Glenn replied, \u201cYeah, it is.\u201d Then came her realization: \u201cAre you serious?\u201d Glenn teased back, \u201cWhy do you think I\u2019m calling, Sharon?\u201d Still in disbelief, she told him, \u201cLet me sit down.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">As a regular Thunder Bay 50\/50 supporter, Sharon was stunned. \u201cYou always say, \u2018if only this would happen to me,\u2019 and then when it does, you think, really?\u201d she said.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">With six children and a few practical plans already in mind, Sharon says she\u2019ll start with hiring an electrician for some needed work at home and maybe replacing her 11-year-old van. \u201cWait until my kids hear about this,\u201d she laughed.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><b>To date, the Thunder Bay 50\/50 has created nine multi-millionaire winners, with more than $79 million in prizes awarded to players across Ontario.<\/b><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When the phone rang at 11:00 a.m., Thunder Bay\u2019s Sharon Badanai had no idea she was about to become a multi-millionaire.
