{"id":76020,"date":"2025-08-07T07:59:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T11:59:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=76020"},"modified":"2025-08-08T07:00:43","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T11:00:43","slug":"east-algoma-opp-driver-charged-after-single-vehicle-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/07\/east-algoma-opp-driver-charged-after-single-vehicle-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"East Algoma OPP &#8211; Driver charged after single vehicle collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>Impaired driving charges laid following single motor vehicle collision in the Town of Iron Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the south side ditch of Chiblow Lake Road.<\/p>\n<p>The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Blind River OPP Detachment for further processing.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, Daanis NIGANABE, 29 years old from Mississauga First Nation, was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operation while impaired &#8211; alcohol<\/li>\n<li>Operation while impaired &#8211; blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP continues to encourage the public to report motorists suspected of driving impaired by calling 9-1-1 or contacting the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Impaired driving charges laid following single motor vehicle collision in the Town of Iron Bridge.
