Delegates will participate in workshops and sessions focused on high-impact regional issues including power generation and transmission, northern highway safety, and homelessness in the Northeast.<\/p>\n<p>Among the event\u2019s keynote speakers is Olya Sanakoev, the Chief Technology Officer of one of Canada\u2019s largest online financial institutions. Sanakoev will bring a unique perspective on innovation and technology in the public sector.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will also feature essential updates from the Government of Ontario, including participation from seven members of Premier Doug Ford\u2019s Cabinet. FONOM President Danny Whalen highlighted the significance of this strong provincial presence, noting that it reflects the increasing recognition of Northern Ontario\u2019s priorities at Queen\u2019s Park. Mayor Peter Chirico of North Bay underscored the value of the conference as a platform for municipal leaders to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration: \u201cThis is a unique opportunity for officials and staff across the Northeast to share insights, address common challenges, and drive regional progress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Notable events during the conference include the annual banquet on Tuesday, May 6. Nipissing MPP Victor Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, will be honoured with the FONOM Executive Award for his time as Mayor of North Bay, distinguished political career, and steadfast commitment to Northern Ontario.
