\nTo pay homage to the dead<\/em>
\nThe grey of the cold November day<\/em>
\nIs slashed with poppy red.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nLed by a piping band,<\/em>
\nRemnants of a once great host<\/em>
\nThat fought to save our land.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nBut their heads are held with pride<\/em>
\nAnd their faces shine with dignity,<\/em>
\nAs they march for those who died.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nHer face is solemn but aglow.<\/em>
\n: These people fought as Grampy fought<\/em>
\nIn a great war long ago.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nWho died for us in far-off lands.\u201d<\/em>
\nAnd as the crowds applaud the vets,<\/em>
\nThe child claps her mittened hands.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nThese aging warriors brave.<\/em>
\nWho will be left to tell the tale<\/em>
\nOf the precious gift they gave?<\/em><\/p>\n
\nTo observe the memory<\/em>
\nOf those who died and those who lived<\/em>
\nTo keep our country free.<\/em><\/p>\n
