Official Opposition NDP housing critic Jessica Bell (University \u2013 Rosedale) released the following statement in response to the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA\u2019s) update on Ontario\u2019s progress meeting the recommendations made by the Housing Affordability Task Force:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Conservatives have had six years to fix the housing crisis, and they\u2019ve failed. It has never been more expensive to rent or own a home, and the government can\u2019t even meet its only housing supply targets.<\/p>\n
\u201cInstead of implementing many of the Housing Affordability Task Force\u2019s sensible recommendations, the Conservatives have wasted time opening up precious farmland and Greenbelt land to help their well-connected developer friends.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn Ontario NDP government is committed to making housing affordable and spurring the construction of 1.5 million new homes to meet the needs of current and future Ontarians.
