She is urging the Ford government to act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis troubling report from Ontario Health makes clear that the staffing crisis in our health care system is having a direct impact on patient outcomes, on matters of life and death,\u201d G\u00e9linas said. \u201cEarly detection and timely access to surgery is vital for those diagnosed with cancer, especially aggressive forms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLonger wait times for diagnosis and surgery are a result of a system stretched by chronic government underfunding and the exodus of overworked, underpaid workers, yet the Ford Conservatives continue to act like the crisis doesn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the money to fix the problem. The government is sitting on billions of dollars\u2014$5.4 billion, to be precise\u2014of unspent funds that should be going to our hospitals.
