{"id":64534,"date":"2024-01-01T06:37:21","date_gmt":"2024-01-01T11:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=64534"},"modified":"2024-01-01T06:38:02","modified_gmt":"2024-01-01T11:38:02","slug":"nipigon-opp-investigation-continues-into-fatal-collision-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/01\/nipigon-opp-investigation-continues-into-fatal-collision-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Nipigon OPP &#8211; Investigation continues into fatal collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>The Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision.<\/p>\n<p>On December 30, 2023, just after 2:30 pm, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with emergency medical services (EMS) and Hurkett Volunteer Fire Protection responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and passenger motor vehicle on Highway 11\/17 south of Nipigon.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old driver of the passenger motor vehicle was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n<p>The highway remains closed in both directions at this location while the OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Re-Constructionists continue the investigation. The closure is expected to continue for most of the night. There is no detour available at this location.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP will provide additional media updates as they become available.<\/p>\n<p>Do not call the OPP for road closure information.
