{"id":64137,"date":"2023-12-12T08:00:15","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T13:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=64137"},"modified":"2023-12-12T07:13:38","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T12:13:38","slug":"nipigon-opp-arrest-and-drug-trafficking-charges-laid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/12\/nipigon-opp-arrest-and-drug-trafficking-charges-laid\/","title":{"rendered":"Nipigon OPP &#8211; Arrest and Drug Trafficking Charges Laid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>As a result of public complaints and tips, officers from the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into drug trafficking in the town of Nipigon.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of this investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Cass POTAN, 35 years old, of Nipigon, Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>On December 10, 2023, the accused was arrested and has been charged with;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possession of Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking &#8211; Methamphetamine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act<\/li>\n<li>Trafficking in Schedule I Substance &#8211; Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth), contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act<\/li>\n<li>Trafficking in Schedule I Substance &#8211; Cocaine, contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is being held in custody for a bail hearing.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any information about the trafficking of illicit drugs call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
