On Sunday we had our service with Marathon United Church, the message was given by Rev. Richard\u00a0 Bott from Burlington, Ont. \u201cIt is the beginning of Advent, a time of waiting and preparation for the coming of the Christ Child.\u00a0 It is a time to think about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in this day and age. What does it mean to be a people who prepare for the coming of Christ?\u00a0 Or the Christmas? What does it mean to be God\u2019s faithful? Of daring justice? How does the coming of the Christ Child speak to each of those parts of our lives as disciples?<\/p>\n
This Advent, I\u2019d like to invite you to sit and be, I\u2019d like to invite you to be as awake and aware as you can. I\u2019d like to invite you into a disciple\u2019s way.\u00a0 Would you like to come along. Let\u2019s let this Advent be a time of waiting, a time of watching and a time of living our faith, in Christ\u2019s Name. Amen\u201d<\/p>\n

As we feel our hearts beating and our blood pressure rising, may we remember that the very Jesus who exhorts us to stay awake is also the Christ through whom God calls us into partnership. As God calls us, God strengthens us.
