{"id":63143,"date":"2023-10-27T08:00:42","date_gmt":"2023-10-27T12:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=63143"},"modified":"2023-10-27T06:33:41","modified_gmt":"2023-10-27T10:33:41","slug":"james-bay-opp-elliot-lake-person-arrested-after-domestic-assault-south-of-chapleau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/27\/james-bay-opp-elliot-lake-person-arrested-after-domestic-assault-south-of-chapleau\/","title":{"rendered":"James Bay OPP &#8211; Elliot Lake Person Arrested after Domestic Assault south of Chapleau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/>The arrest of a person wanted for domestic assaults, led to further weapons charges.<\/p>\n<p>On October 21, 2023, members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a domestic assault, that had occurred earlier in October, at a residence on Highway 129, south of Chapleau.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation led to an arrest warrant being obtained for an individual from Elliot Lake.<\/p>\n<p>On October 23, 2023, at around 1:00 p.m., members of the James Bay OPP located the wanted individual and conducted a traffic stop on Front Street in Hearst.\u00a0During the search incident to arrest, two loaded firearms, ammunition, and a conducted energy weapon (CEW) were located.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old person from Elliot Lake was arrested and charged with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assault &#8211; spousal<\/li>\n<li>Assault with a weapon &#8211; spousal<\/li>\n<li>Assault cause bodily harm &#8211; choke, suffocate or strangle<\/li>\n<li>Uttering threats &#8211; cause death or bodily harm &#8211; spousal<\/li>\n<li>Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)<\/li>\n<li>Unauthorized possession of a weapon<\/li>\n<li>Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused was released from Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chapleau, and in Hearst on separate dates in December.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The arrest of a person wanted for domestic assaults, led to further weapons charges.
