{"id":62995,"date":"2023-10-17T06:11:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T10:11:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=62995"},"modified":"2023-10-17T06:11:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T10:11:27","slug":"east-algoma-opp-impaired-charges-laid-after-collision-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/17\/east-algoma-opp-impaired-charges-laid-after-collision-3\/","title":{"rendered":"East Algoma OPP &#8211; Impaired Charges laid after collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/>On October 14, 2023, shortly after 10:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma OPP Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Ansonia Road in the Municipality of Huron Shores.<\/p>\n<p>Investigation determined the complainant was driving on Ansonia Road when the complainant&#8217;s vehicle was hit by a passing westbound pick-up truck that was all over the road.\u00a0The pick-up truck took out the complainant&#8217;s vehicle mirror and the rear driver&#8217;s side tire that had exploded.\u00a0The complainant received non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after 11:00 a.m., police located and arrested the driver of the pick-up truck at a residence on Ansonia Road.\u00a0The pick-up truck was later towed and impounded for seven days.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Jos POIRIER, 52 years-of-age from Bruce Mines was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operation While Impaired &#8211; Combined Blood Alcohol and Blood Drug Concentration<\/li>\n<li>Failure to Stop After Accident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 7, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Impaired driving is dangerous regardless of the source of impairment.\u00a0Whether a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On October 14, 2023, shortly after 10:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma OPP Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Ansonia Road in the Municipality of Huron Shores.
