Rom\u00e9o Girard, 53 of Malartic has been identified as the mining contractor who was fatally injured on September 9th.\u00a0<span class=\"fn\">Reports are that the worker was found beside his truck (which had struck a wall), seriously wounded and unconscious underground.\u00a0He was taken to hospital where he sucumbed to his injuries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fn\">Wesdome&#8217;s press release stated, &#8220;Personnel responded urgently however efforts to revive the individual were unsuccessful. Police and the provincial safety authorities CNESST were immediately notified and called to the site. All activities underground at Kiena are suspended while the Company works with the authorities to determine the cause of death.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Duncan Middlemiss, President and CEO commented, &#8216;We are deeply saddened by this news and we extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.
