{"id":60864,"date":"2023-05-25T13:34:56","date_gmt":"2023-05-25T17:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=60864"},"modified":"2023-05-25T13:43:58","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T17:43:58","slug":"east-algoma-opp-arrest-made-after-gun-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/25\/east-algoma-opp-arrest-made-after-gun-call\/","title":{"rendered":"East Algoma OPP &#8211; Arrest made after Gun Call"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/>On May 21, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in relation to a report of a man with a gun at an apartment complex on Dunn Road in Elliot Lake.<\/p>\n<p>The complainant reported a verbal argument ensued between numerous people in the parking lot.\u00a0Then the male pointed a handgun at another person and made threats while doing so.\u00a0The handgun was taken from the male who then departed on foot.\u00a0Police located the male a short time later at a residence on Lauzon Crescent and an arrest was made.<\/p>\n<p>David Jack (DJ) WILLETT, 32 years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pointing a firearm<\/li>\n<li>Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose<\/li>\n<li>Fail to comply with release order &#8211; other than to attend court<\/li>\n<li>Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste.
