{"id":6076,"date":"2017-09-03T13:56:10","date_gmt":"2017-09-03T17:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=6076"},"modified":"2017-09-03T14:25:39","modified_gmt":"2017-09-03T18:25:39","slug":"fatal-collision-on-french-river-bridge-close-highway-for-eight-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/03\/fatal-collision-on-french-river-bridge-close-highway-for-eight-hours\/","title":{"rendered":"Fatal Collision on French River Bridge close highway for Eight Hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6079\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/OPP-FrenchRiver.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6079\" class=\"wp-image-6079 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/OPP-FrenchRiver.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/OPP-FrenchRiver.jpg 600w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/OPP-FrenchRiver-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6079\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">photo courtesy of Ontario Provincial Police<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On Friday, September 1, 2017 at 3:03 p.m., members of the Sudbury and Noelville detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the French River\u00a0Fire Department and the Sudbury District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision on the French River Bridge on Highway 69 in the Municipality of the French River.<\/p>\n<p>Investigation revealed that a passenger\u00a0car was\u00a0northbound\u00a0on the French River bridge\u00a0(Highway 69) when it\u00a0crossed the centre line\u00a0and side-swiped\u00a0a southbound pick-up truck.\u00a0The car continued northbound further crossing into the southbound lane and collided head-on\u00a0with a tractor-trailer.<\/p>\n<p>The female driver and lone occupant in the passenger\u00a0car, Jillian Rose KEAST, 25 years of age, from Sudbury,\u00a0was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The female driver of the pick-up truck, who is from Val Caron and her male passenger, from Azilda, were not injured in the collision and neither was the male driver of the tractor-trailer who is from Welland, ON.<\/p>\n<p>The highway was closed in both directions for a period of eight hours while officers, with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and an OPP Technical Collision Investigator (TCI), completed their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>No charges will be laid.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sep 6, 2017 @ 18:07<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On September 1, 2017 at 3:03 p.m., members of the Sudbury and Noelville detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the French River\u00a0Fire Department and the Sudbury District<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision on the French River Bridge on Highway 69.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) are on scene investigating and the Highway remains closed at this time. It has been confirmed that one person is deceased.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Motorists are advised that they canuse an alternate route. Northbound traffic should use Highway 522 to Highway 11 then northbound to North Bay and southbound traffic should use Highway 64 to Highway 17 then East to North Bay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown at this time how long the Highway will remain closed for the investigation. Please do not call 911 for an update.
