{"id":55795,"date":"2022-09-07T06:12:19","date_gmt":"2022-09-07T10:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=55795"},"modified":"2022-09-07T06:20:26","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T10:20:26","slug":"thunder-bay-opp-utv-driver-killed-passenger-injured-after-utv-rollover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2022\/09\/07\/thunder-bay-opp-utv-driver-killed-passenger-injured-after-utv-rollover\/","title":{"rendered":"Thunder Bay OPP &#8211; UTV Driver Killed, Passenger injured after UTV rollover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>On September 2, 2022, at 9:00 pm, members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Decourcey Lake Road, off Highway 527, north of Thunder Bay.\u00a0Police were advised a lone Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) side by side had rolled causing extensive injuries to the operator and passenger.<\/p>\n<p>Police and Superior North EMS attended the scene and determined the driver to be deceased.\u00a0The passenger was transported to the hospital with extensive but non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old George DECORTE of Thunder Bay.<\/p>\n<p>Investigation is still ongoing; police are determining whether speed and alcohol were contributing factors in this collision.<\/p>\n<p>The public is reminded that helmets and seatbelts must be worn at all times when operating a side by side and the vehicle must be plated and insured.
