{"id":55339,"date":"2022-08-08T11:04:28","date_gmt":"2022-08-08T15:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=55339"},"modified":"2022-08-08T11:05:58","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T15:05:58","slug":"east-algoma-opp-stunt-driving-drug-charges-laid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/08\/east-algoma-opp-stunt-driving-drug-charges-laid\/","title":{"rendered":"East Algoma OPP &#8211; Stunt Driving &#038; Drug Charges Laid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>On August 5, 2022, members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties on Highway 108.<\/p>\n<p>At approximately 6:30 p.m., police observed a northbound black car travelling at an excessive high rate of speed on Highway 108 near Depot Lake.\u00a0Police located the car at a local gas station in the City of Elliot Lake and arrested the driver.<\/p>\n<p>The car was searched and officers observed the windshield on the driver&#8217;s side in the upper half was severely smashed.\u00a0Police also located drug paraphernalia and a small amount of suspected cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Shane GIROUX-DOUCETTE, 32 years-of-age from Elliot Lake, was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possession of a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act<\/li>\n<li>Drive Motor Vehicle-Perform Stunt-Excessive Speed, contrary to section 172(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)<\/li>\n<li>No Clear View to Front, contrary to section 74(1)(a) of the HTA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 4, 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On August 5, 2022, members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties on Highway 108.
