{"id":53486,"date":"2022-04-22T19:20:46","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T23:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=53486"},"modified":"2022-04-22T19:20:46","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T23:20:46","slug":"ontario-providing-mental-health-and-addictions-funding-to-the-ontario-native-womens-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/22\/ontario-providing-mental-health-and-addictions-funding-to-the-ontario-native-womens-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario Providing Mental Health and Addictions Funding to the Ontario Native Women\u2019s Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ontario government is providing $812,500 to the Ontario Native Women\u2019s Association (ONWA) to help increase their resources and capacity to deliver a range of culturally appropriate, trauma-based mental health and addictions supports to Indian Residential School Survivors, their families and communities.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will help ONWA provide safety supports, such as access to traditional land-based therapy, traditional medicines, addiction treatment system navigation, housing supports, grief and loss services and cultural intervention methodologies.<\/p>\n<p>With this funding, ONWA will also be able to continue developing and operating a centralized, provincewide, phone-based intake system to provide both coordinated access to ONWA\u2019s range of services as well as referrals to other agencies serving Indigenous women and communities.
