The investigation revealed that a southbound ambulance struck a southbound snowplow. As a result, Connie HALVERSON, 68 years-of-age, of White River, was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Shani LARRETT, 45 years-of-age, of Wawa, has been charged with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Careless driving causing death, contrary to section 130(3) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and<\/li>\n<li>Careless driving causing bodily harm, contrary to section 130(3) of the HTA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 21, 2022 in Wawa.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team assisted with the investigation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div><div class=\"divider\"><\/div>\n<p><span id=\"timestamp\"><b>Feb 21, 2022 at 14:12<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On February 20, 2022 at 11:05 a.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 519, approximately 40 kilometres north of Wawa.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation has revealed that a southbound ambulance struck a southbound snow plow. The passenger in the ambulance, a 68-year-old female, from White River, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One of the paramedics in the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and the other sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.\u00a0The plow driver was not injured.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team are assisting with the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.\u00a0Highway 17 between Wawa and White River has reopened in both directions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div><div class=\"divider\"><\/div>\n<p><b>Feb 20, 2022 at 14:00<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On February 20, 2022 at 11:05 a.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 519, approximately 40 kilometres north of Wawa.<\/p>\n<p>One person has been confirmed deceased as a result of the collision.\u00a0The investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Highway 17 between Wawa and White River will remain closed for several hours while police conduct their investigation.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Investigation Completed &#8211; Charges Laid The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges resulting from the investigation of a fatal collision.
