{"id":51173,"date":"2022-01-19T09:47:33","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=51173"},"modified":"2022-01-19T09:47:33","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:47:33","slug":"applicants-invited-school-attendance-counsellor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2022\/01\/19\/applicants-invited-school-attendance-counsellor\/","title":{"rendered":"Applicants Invited &#8211; School &#038; Attendance Counsellor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ADSB-CareerOpporunity.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-51174\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ADSB-CareerOpporunity.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>Applicants are invited for the following positions:<\/p>\n<h1>School &amp; Attendance Counsellor<\/h1>\n<p>Permanent Full-time<\/p>\n<p>Location:\u00a0 Northern Area Schools (including Wawa, Hornepayne, Chapleau)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (or equivalent in a related field); Master of Social work preferred<\/li>\n<li>Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (or equivalent)<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of three to five years clinical experience working with children, youth, and families in a community-based setting<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with complex, multi-need children and youth<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record of providing high-quality clinical services within fast-paced environments as part of a multi-disciplinary team<\/li>\n<li>Valid G-Class Driver\u2019s License, access to a vehicle in good working condition, and the ability to travel to different communities to provide services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide tier one and tier two supports for students to address concerns such as anger management, grief &amp; loss, social skills development, interpersonal relationships, bullying and harassment, stress management and\/or crisis intervention.<\/li>\n<li>support the use of evidence-based strategies for classroom educators to support mental health promotion and prevention as appropriate;<\/li>\n<li>supporting students as part of the ADSB <em>Response to Traumatic Events<\/em> Team as required.<\/li>\n<li>facilitate the referral of students and families to community agencies that have the necessary infrastructure to provide tier three supports.<\/li>\n<li>help to deliver professional development related to supporting the mental health needs of students<\/li>\n<li>provide attendance support services as part of the process of enforcing Education Act legislation and regulations associated with compulsory school attendance.<\/li>\n<li>perform other duties as may be assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interested applicants are asked to forward the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Letter of Application<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 outlining why you are interested and the knowledge and skills you would bring to this position, and<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Current Resume<\/u><\/strong>: that outlines your qualifications and experience, including the names and contact information of three references, as well as permission to contact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications should be submitted via email, until <strong><u>Friday, January 28<sup>th<\/sup>, 2022<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brent Vallee, Superintendent of Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Email: <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:phillic@adsb.on.ca\"><strong>phillic@adsb.on.ca<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A shortlisting of applicants for interviews will be completed. <strong>Please note that only candidates shortlisted for interviews will be contacted.<\/strong> An interview and\/or performance task may be required.\u00a0 Accommodations through the recruitment and selection process are available upon request.
