{"id":5098,"date":"2017-07-18T18:09:36","date_gmt":"2017-07-18T22:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=5098"},"modified":"2020-08-24T13:34:12","modified_gmt":"2020-08-24T17:34:12","slug":"sears-liquidation-profit-should-fund-pensions-not-executive-bonuses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2017\/07\/18\/sears-liquidation-profit-should-fund-pensions-not-executive-bonuses\/","title":{"rendered":"Sears liquidation profit should fund pensions \u2013 not executive bonuses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Jul 18, 2017 @ 18:09<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Sears Canada has been given the court\u2019s approval to begin liquidation sales Friday at the 59 locations it plans to close \u2013 the proceeds of which Ontario\u2019s NDP says should fund Sears\u2019 employees pensions first, not executive bonuses or debts to large firms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Ontario NDP has demanded legal changes so that when a company is entering bankruptcy, current and former employees are the first in line to get paid the pensions they\u2019re owed \u2013 not last.
