Ford.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staff Pick of the Week &#8211; <\/strong>A Noise Downstairs\u201d by Linwood Barclay<\/p>\n<p>(from book jacket)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>College professor Paul Davis is a normal guy with a normal life. Until driving along a deserted road late one night, he surprises a murderer disposing of a couple of bodies. That\u2019s when Paul\u2019s &#8220;normal&#8221; existence is turned upside down. After nearly losing his own life in that encounter, he finds himself battling PTSD, depression, and severe problems at work. His wife, Charlotte, desperate to cheer him up, brings home a vintage typewriter\u2014complete with ink ribbons and heavy round keys\u2014to encourage him to get started on that novel he\u2019s always intended to write.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>However, the typewriter itself is a problem. Paul swears it\u2019s possessed and types by itself at night. But only Paul can hear the noise coming from downstairs; Charlotte doesn\u2019t hear a thing. And she worries he\u2019s going off the rails.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Paul believes the typewriter is somehow connected to the murderer he discovered nearly a year ago. The killer had made his victims type apologies to him before ending their lives. Has another sick twist of fate entwined his life with the killer\u2014could this be the same machine?\u00a0Increasingly tormented but determined to discover the truth and confront his nightmare, Paul begins investigating the deaths himself.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But that may not be the best thing to do. Maybe Paul should just take the typewriter back to where his wife found it. If you don\u2019t have a library card, it is the perfect time to get one. Come on in to the library or go to our website at wawa.olsn.ca and download a registion form.<\/p>\n<p>The library has too many used books so all print books are on sale! In honour of OPLW we are having <strong>a $2.00 a bag book sale<\/strong>. Come on into the library, we will give you a bag and it is your job to fill it up! We also have a used DVDs and Blu-rays for sale and well as Audio Books. Check it out.<\/p>\n<p>Help us give back to our community by filling the food bank. We are offering FOOD FOR FINES coupons. When you bring in non-perishable food items, we give you TRIPLE library coupons ($2.00 each) to apply toward any future library fines.<\/p>\n<p>All of these activities will continue until October 29<sup>th<\/sup>, 2021. Everyone must sanitize their hands before entering the library.\u00a0 All returned materials must be placed in the Drop Box for quarantine.\u00a0 We ask that if you are not feeling well, to NOT come into the library. For those who can\u2019t wear masks or for whatever reason cannot comply with AHU recommended measures, we are happy to continue curbside pickup! Please be sure to check in at the circulation desk so that we can complete contact tracing.<\/p>\n<p>All library materials go through a sanitization process before they are checked out to the public. When materials are returned through the Book Drop, we are using gloves to handle items and then place them in a box for quarantine.
