{"id":48228,"date":"2021-10-22T07:34:40","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T11:34:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=48228"},"modified":"2021-10-22T07:34:40","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T11:34:40","slug":"thunder-bay-opp-lay-charges-after-dump-truck-and-school-bus-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2021\/10\/22\/thunder-bay-opp-lay-charges-after-dump-truck-and-school-bus-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Thunder Bay OPP lay charges after Dump Truck and School Bus Collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at approximately 7:47 a.m.,\u00a0Thunder\u00a0Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)\u00a0received information\u00a0of a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus and a dump truck on Highway 608, in the township of Neebing west of East Oliver Lake Road.<\/p>\n<p>Officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Thunder Bay Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Neebing Fire Department responded and police investigated.<\/p>\n<p>Police confirmed\u00a03 students were on board the bus with no injuries.\u00a0The driver of the\u00a0school bus suffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation revealed a dump truck collided with a school bus while it was making a turn off the highway.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, the driver of the dump truck was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pass &#8211; roadway not clear &#8211; overtaking traffic, contrary to section 148(8)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accused is schedule to appear in Provincial Offences Court on December 13, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Police are reminding drivers\u00a0who approach school buses from the front or rear, to be aware and be prepared to stop when\u00a0the red lights are flashing and the stop\u00a0arm is activated.
