{"id":44765,"date":"2021-05-19T10:33:34","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T14:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=44765"},"modified":"2021-06-24T12:59:43","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T16:59:43","slug":"may-17th-2021-north-algoma-covid-19-vaccine-eligible-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2021\/05\/19\/may-17th-2021-north-algoma-covid-19-vaccine-eligible-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"May 17th, 2021: North Algoma Covid-19 Vaccine Eligible Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/VaccineAges-May17.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-44766\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/VaccineAges-May17.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>May 17<sup>th<\/sup>, 2021: North Algoma Covid-19 Vaccine Eligible Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following new groups, and previous\u00a0eligible groups, are welcome to book an appointment:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adults aged 50+<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>At-Risk Health Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Immune deficiencies\/autoimmune disorders<\/li>\n<li>Stroke\/cerebrovascular disease<\/li>\n<li>Dementia<\/li>\n<li>Diabetes<\/li>\n<li>Liver disease<\/li>\n<li>All other cancers<\/li>\n<li>Respiratory diseases<\/li>\n<li>Spleen problems (e.g., asplenia)<\/li>\n<li>Heart disease<\/li>\n<li>Hypertension with end-organ damage<\/li>\n<li>Diagnosis of mental disorder<\/li>\n<li>Substance use disorders<\/li>\n<li>Sickle Cell Disease<\/li>\n<li>Thalassemia<\/li>\n<li>Immunocompromising health conditions<\/li>\n<li>Other disabilities requiring direct support care in the community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Group of Essential Workers Who Cannot Work from Home:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential and critical retail workers (including grocery, foodbank and non-clinical pharmacy workers, restaurant workers, LCBO, Service Ontario, Service Canada, wholesalers and general goods, restaurant workers)<\/li>\n<li>Workers in manufacturing industries directly involved in supporting the COVID-19 response, construction including infrastructure, and other essential businesses and services where facilities are at heightened risk for COVID-19 outbreaks and spread<\/li>\n<li>Social workers and other social services staff providing in-person client services (including youth justice workers, OW and ODSP case workers)<\/li>\n<li>Courts and justice system workers (including probation and parole workers)<\/li>\n<li>Transportation, warehousing and distribution workers (including public transit workers, taxi drivers, truck drivers supporting essential services, marine and rail cargo and maintenance, highway maintenance)<\/li>\n<li>Electricity delivery workers (including workers employed in system operations, generation, transmission, distribution, and storage).<\/li>\n<li>Communications infrastructure workers (including cellular, satellite, landline, internet, public safety radio)<\/li>\n<li>Water and wastewater management workers<\/li>\n<li>Financial services workers (bank branch staff)<\/li>\n<li>Veterinarians and veterinary teams<\/li>\n<li>Waste management workers<\/li>\n<li>Oil and petroleum workers (including those working in petroleum refineries; those involved in the storage, transmission, and distribution of crude oil and petroleum products and those needed for the retail sale of fuel).<\/li>\n<li>Natural gas and propane gas workers (including those working in the compression, storage, transmission, and distribution of natural gas and propane)<\/li>\n<li>Mine workers (including those needed to ensure the continued operation of active mines)<\/li>\n<li>Uranium processing workers (those working in the refining and conversion of uranium, and fabrication of fuel for nuclear power plants).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are in one of the groups listed above, please phone your local vaccination centre to book an appointment.
