{"id":4434,"date":"2017-06-22T09:38:15","date_gmt":"2017-06-22T13:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=4434"},"modified":"2017-06-22T11:56:20","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T15:56:20","slug":"six-weeks-til-island-summer-concert-series-kicks-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2017\/06\/22\/six-weeks-til-island-summer-concert-series-kicks-off\/","title":{"rendered":"Six weeks &#8217;til island summer concert series kicks off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Jun 22, 2017 @ 09:38<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The countdown is on now for the Old Town Hall Concert Series in Hilton Beach, with only six weeks to go until the first performance on Wednesday, August 2nd.<\/p>\n<p>With a modern bluegrass act, an authentic blues group and a multiple award-winning jazz vocalist, this season has something for everyone. \u00a0The venue has seating for only 250, which makes for an up-close and personal performance that both the\u00a0audience and the\u00a0musicians\u00a0love.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Andrew Collins Trio<\/strong>\u00a0is an exciting new &#8220;newgrass&#8221; (folk\/bluegrass) group headed by prolific performer and master of the mandolin, Andrew Collins. \u00a0With innumerable Juno Award nominations, along with a win just last week of Instrumental Group of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, this is one act you won&#8217;t want to miss.<\/p>\n<p>Blues is always a hit with our\u00a0audience, so this summer we are thrilled to welcome an authentic Canadian blues group to the Island. \u00a0<strong>Blackburn<\/strong>\u00a0is literally a band of brothers. \u00a0With a long family blues tradition, steeped in history dating back to the Underground Railroad, the Blackburn Brothers are fresh off a 2016 Juno nomination for Blues Album of the Year. \u00a0This is a fun, funky, soul rich act that any blues lover will enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emilie-Claire Barlow<\/strong>\u00a0makes her long-overdue return to the Old Town Hall Concert Series in 2017!
